Location: On Highway 16 near Llano, Texas, in a roadcut near Baby Head Cemetery.
What you can find: Llanite, a form of rhyolite with strikingly blue hexagonal quartz crystals included in it.
Ease of Access: Very easy, right beside road
Locality Type: Roadcut
Equipment Needed: The llanite is a very tough material. If you want bigger chunks, you'll need a sledgehammer and chisels (don't forget your safety glasses!). If you're content with small chips, you'll find plenty laying around.
Additional Information: Look for the disturbingly-named "Baby Head Cemetery" sign and then follow the road up to the roadcut at the top of the small hill. The Llanite is in the large rocks on both sides of the road.
